From the Foster:
Chumley (who has been know as Marshall now for 5 years) is a wonderful, sweet, gentle giant!  He loves to monitor the neighborhood and loves very much to chase squirrels in his backyard.  He loves laying around the house with his family.  He is not particularly playful but he does play and wrestle around with his golden retriever brother.  He does great on shorter walks and at dog parks and he is friendly with new dogs and new people.  He is very gentle around older children but small children and babies make him very nervous.  Marshall is very independent.  He does sit and wait for his food on command and he will follow a few directions if he thinks they sound like a good idea.  On most days you will most likely find him laying in the backyard for hours enjoying the fresh air unless it is raining.  We have tried teaching him how to fetch but he prefers to watch his golden retriever brother do that!  True to his breed, Chumley prefers to be patrolling his yard for any squirrel invaders, potential bunny threats, and the occasional chipmunk.  He takes his job very seriously and without a fence, is likely to consider the whole neighborhood his patrol area!  We definitely recommend a larger fenced yard for this big guy so he can be content with his guard duty, and not wander off!
