From the Foster:

If your life could use a little extra sunshine and happiness, please take a moment to read about this ray of sunshine known as Mikasa. You can’t help but smile when you’re around her, thanks to her sweet demeanor, constantly wagging tail, and the abundance of kisses she tries to shower you with. She is such a friendly dog, to both people and other dogs. If she had her way, she would be next to you or on you at all times. She is that much of a lover, and really wants to be with her person as much as possible. To put it simply, Mikasa just wants to love and be loved in return.

Mikasa’s absolute favorite thing to do is play with my resident dog, which she has yet to tire of. She plays hard and as often as possible, so it’s important that any dog(s) in her future home would be a good match for her play style and energy needs. Even though I know she would LOVE to have a dog sibling in her furever home, I think she would be okay as an only dog, if given plenty of socialization opportunities with other dogs. She is a very active girl and needs a lot of physical and mental stimulation throughout the day. She is not the type of dog who wants to hang out and sleep the day away. She is going to live her life to the fullest and wants to take advantage of every second of every day.

Now for the fun stuff! Mikasa is potty-trained and does very well doing her business on walks and in my yard. She is a strong pup, who loves to pull on walks, but we have been working on leash training, and she is slowly learning that we don’t always have to be in such a hurry. She is not a fan of her crate, and will express her distaste very loudly through a myriad of noises. She is extremely vocal when left alone, whether or not she is crated. Because of this, I don’t think shared walls would be the best living situation for her.  With patience, love, positive training, and some really tasty treats, I know Mikasa will truly thrive in the right home.

Mikasa is pending some medical care but still available for adoption.  She has bilateral (both sides) grade 2/4 luxating patellas on her rear knees and will need 2 orthopedic surgeries completed by a specialist at the SHH Vet Center.

The recovery period requires strict rest and restricted activity for 12 weeks *per surgery* so any adopter just needs to be aware of this care and treatment.  The estimated amount of time with surgery and recovery is 6+ months for both procedures.

Miksasa will be adopted with an FTA (foster to adopt) contract so the adoption can take place, while SHH still manages the financial responsibility of my orthopedic surgery.  Any other medical care needed outside of these surgeries  covered by the FTA contract  would be the responsibility of the adopter.
