From the Foster:

This gorgeous girl is Daisy & she's as sweet as she looks but sadly she's also pretty scared because she isn't used to being a loved member of a home quite yet. Coming from a larger scale breeder, she was not socialized & seems to have never been handled by people or been in a house before. While she is the nicest cutie on the planet, she cowers, is reluctant to approach you at first, & will take some time to warm up or feel safe around new people for a while.

Daisy LOVES other dogs & gets a lot of her courage watching them so it would be excellent if she could have a canine buddy to help show her the ropes. She is also great with cats & has been respectful of their space but also a good cuddle companion when they want to nap. While we know she can adapt without another animal buddy in the home, it will likely be loads easier with another companion animal whose confidence can rub off on her a bit. She is comfortable being left in a crate or loose when unsupervised & is not destructive. She's almost entirely house-trained already (she uses potty pads occasionally but no "accidents") & she is working on just relaxing in the unfamiliar environment of a home.

Because Daisy is a nervous lady, it's important to note that she will likely be too shy to really interact with people during a meet & greet. We know that the right home will see past this & that they'll never regret making her a part of their family, she will give back every bit of love she is shown. Maybe that "right home" is yours so fill out an application today & we will share as much as we can about this darling pup who deserves to have a home that will make her feel comfortable & loved fur-ever!

From our vet staff:
Thank you for choosing adoption! Daisy is a special gal and will be adopted out with a Foster to Adopt (FTA) style contract. Daisy needs a bilateral (both sides) total hip replacement (THR) which will be covered by Secondhand Hounds via a specialty surgeon when she is 1 year of age. The FTA Contract will only cover this surgery and recovery or follow-up recommendations made by the surgeon. Adopters will be responsible for all other necessary or elective veterinary care needed beyond this. Please consider that this surgery will have an intense, extensive recovery period requiring that Daisy have controlled activity and rest, so she does require a committed forever family. Secondhand Hounds thinks this bloodhound beauty is absolutely worth it, thus our commitment to providing this surgery to help her avoid future debilitating arthritis at a young age.
