From the Foster:

Louis is such a gem!!!  He loves everyone that he meets and is truly a gentle giant.  Being that he is both blind and deaf we are doing touch training with him.  We will give him a tap on the chin when it's time to eat, two taps on his foot to go up the stairs, etc.  He seems to respond very well, he is very smart.  We reward him with treats as he is very food motivated.  He learned the layout of our house very quickly and doesn't bump into things too much anymore.  It is important that he is in a home that the furniture doesn't get changed frequently so he can feel comfortable and confident in his surroundings.

He walks very well on a leash and stays by my side most of the time as we walk.  Sometimes he will gallop ahead just a tad and then slow down again to be sure I am there for him.  He loves to sniff everything outside and get treats along our walk.

He is not a fan of his crate....yet so this is a work in progress.  We are trying to associate his crate with treats and special items that he only gets in there.  We will continue to work on this.

His potty training is also a work in progress, but it seems the more used to a schedule he gets the better that is going.  Each time he goes potty outside he gets a special treat and he seems to be catching on quickly that potty in that wet and cold stuff equals a treat :-)

He adores our resident dogs and cat and wants to play with them.  He is amazing with kids and loves our 8 and 10 year olds and their friends that have been over.  He just needs to be able to give them a sniff first so he knows they are there and then he waits for head pets.  Due to his size he could have a hard time with younger children as he could knock them down while trying to play or navigate around.

Louis is such a good boy that deserves a wonderful and loving home.  He might not have his sight or vision, but he makes the most out of his other senses and is very smart and eager to learn.
