From the Foster:

Monte was surrendered with his “brother” when his family was unfortunately unable to care for him anymore.  They loved the boys very much so reached out to Secondhand Hounds to see if we could find them the very best forever home.  I know Monte may be a bit on the older side for a dane but he still has a ton of love left to give during his golden years.  AND you don’t have to go through the hassle of house training him ;).

  • Monte does not need a crate.  He is allowed to free roam at our house and has never had an accident.

  • Monte is potty trained, again he has NEVER had an accident since living with me.

  • Monte knows how to sit, shake, lay down.  He seems to have been taught to not come on furniture.

  • Monte does get along, and lives with, dogs of various sizes.  He is vocal when he needs his space, which the dogs he’s leaving with respects.  He’s lived with another Great Dane for years and lives with every size currently ranging down to a 5 pounder.

  • Monte lives with, and does find, with a cat but will chase him once in a while and use his “loud bark”.

  • Monte would prefer to have a forever family that either has someone home with him the majority of the day or has another canine buddy he can hang out with during the day.

  • Monte is overweight.  He needs a family that will continue to encourage some weight-loss since this would be healthiest for him and allow for as long of a life as possible.
