From the Foster: Kodiak, now known as Royce, was adopted as a puppy but recently returned and is looking for a new forever family! As seen in the pictures he is a very handsome boy with beautiful markings. Royce did ok with dogs in his previous foster family but since adoption has matured and we feel he will do best as either the only dog in the home, or with a family that can do slow intros and with a more submissive male dog friend. He can make friends with other dogs but it takes a little time and the 'right' kind of dog friend :) He is for sure the Alpha dog. Small children make him very anxious and his new home must be kid free. He is high energy so would do well with an active family. He is fully house trained. Royce had a year of personal training and is a very smart dog. Royce loves walks and doses awesome on a lead. Over the year he has learned the following commands through click and treat training very well: Sit, down, stay, leave it, bed, and come, and loves to play fetch.
He appears to love his foster brother Regal and people, but doesn't do well in a group setting like doggy daycare as he isn't always good at reading cues from other dogs (likes to play more than they might). Royce does take time to adjust to each new person he meets. His favorite thing in the entire world is being with people, especially cuddling either on the couch or in bed with mom and dad. He's definitely an expert at that. He tends to follow his people nearly everywhere.
Royce would benefit from someone with breed experience.
He will be his best self in a home, potentially with a fenced yard versus an apartment. Royce is an easy, affectionate and excellent dog as long as he is given exercise and stimulation! He will require a strong leader and someone willing to work with him through all his faults.
