From the Foster:Emily is talkative, affectionate, loves other cats, and is shy at first but a total lovebug once she knows you. If you have a cat who is longing for a companion, Emily is the one for you!

Emily had spent a lot of time at a shelter with her litter of kittens, and when she arrived at Secondhand Hounds, she was incredibly shy. When we brought her home, she didn't make a peep and hid in her cat tower. Luckily, we have social cats who wanted nothing more than to be her best friend, and taught her how to be a house cat. Since then, Emily has totally transformed! She follows us around, is very chatty, loves to play and be around our other cats, and keeps our feet warm at night when she sleeps on our bed. She loves to crawl onto laps and be cuddled and played with.

While she has come so far in a short period of time, she can still be shy and startles easily at loud sounds or sudden movement. She prefers to come to you rather than be approached, as she sometimes interprets it as a chase situation and will run away. The good news is, she approaches for cuddles and headbutts constantly, so it has not been an issue. She surprised us by not being phased at all by having people over to visit, and did not hide, so she has really come such a long way. In order to help her continue to be her best self, we feel a very specific home is needed for Emily, and she will repay you with all of the love you can handle, and then some!

Emily would do best in a quieter house without children or dogs. A house with other cats will be preferred, as she seems to do best with friends. She attaches easily to other cats and does not react shyly around them at all. If you have a cat that would love a companion, Emily would love to fill that role!
