We are Hiring an Office Administrator

Thank you for your interest in working for Secondhand Hounds!   We are currently hiring an Office Administrator to work at our office in Minnetonka! This role would be 40 hours per week, 35 in the office and 5 remote.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  1. In Office Hours: be present in the office 35 hours per week, Monday-Fri from 9am – 4pm.  
  2. Office Scheduling: manage the scheduling to fill all office hours & let out shifts; coordinate coverage for open slots when regular office hour volunteers are unavailable.  Assign office hours shadows for newly trained volunteers. Post to remind when we are closed as well.
  3. Volunteer Requests: coordinate pickup of donations and transport of other needs for the organization.  Monitor to ensure need is completed in a timely manner.
  4. Postal mailing:  Mail items to fosters, adopters and volunteers as needed using Stamps.com software
  5. Office Inventory: manage supplies needed to run the rescue including animal supplies and inventory.  Oversee routine office supplies and reorder as needed using business accounts. Monitor food for dogs and cats and ensure we have sufficient levels for our animals.  
  6. Office Room Requests: manage the room requests for all room usage in the office.  This includes internal meetings, external meetings, events, and other room reservation needs.  
  7. Office Voicemail Messages: receive and respond to office messages from our office phone number (messages sent to you via email) and disperse to staff as needed

 

Desired Experience:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills representing the organization
  • Proficient computer skills: Gmail, Google Docs, Facebook
  • Great organizational skills to manage volunteer schedules with multiple people per shift

We are Hiring a Veterinary Technician

We are currently hiring a Vet Tech to work at our office in Minnetonka! Competitive pay, fun team, rescue animals!   We are looking for someone with 2+ years of clinic experience to help improve our animal care and in-clinic processes. This is a full time position.  Secondhand Hounds has approximately 200-250 dogs and 100+ cats in rescue at any time.  We are looking for team players who like a fun, collaborative, and fast paced environment with a high level of animal care.

Hours are subject to change, but currently the following plus 1 Saturday per month.

  • Monday 7am – 4pm
  • Tuesday 12pm – 8pm
  • Wednesday 10am – 8pm
  • Friday 9am – 4pm

We are Hiring a Lost Dogs Lead Volunteer

We are looking for a Lost Dogs Lead Volunteer for the organization.  This is a volunteer (unpaid) position.  Time commitment is minimal, primarily when an animal is lost which requires a quick turnaround and sense of urgency.  The Lost Dogs Lead is the point of contact from SHH to manage when a foster dog (or cat) is lost.  You will coordinate volunteers on the SHH Lost Dog group to plan steps to retrieve the animal. Ultimate goal is to retrieve the animal safely and efficiently.

  1. Create/Distribute Flyer: Submit info to Lost Dogs MN to create flyer, create strategy of search, communicate to SHH community for awareness
  2. Sightings: track sightings to determine area where the animal is lost
  3. Physical Signs: coordinate volunteers to place signs (from our office) and know where they are placed to retrieve later
  4. Boots on Ground: coordinate those searching for the animal to ensure partnership of all involved
  5. Place traps: if needed, work with volunteers to place live traps (available at SHH office) and check traps regularly for duration of search.
  6. Partner with Adopters: if requested, assist adopters with locating their lost animal.
