Secondhand Hounds hosts adoption events at area pet stores several times a month.

The process works like this:
- Find the dog you are interested in by searching our adoptable dogs! If you do not have a specific animal in mind, feel free to fill out the application and just put “TBD” in the name category; we would be happy to help you find a perfect match!
- Fill out an application.
- The foster parent will contact you to set up a visit with the dog/cat within 48 hours. Please email Emily at SHHAdoptions@gmail.com if you have not heard from the foster family, or if you have any questions about the status of your application.
- Visit the animal you are interested in meeting whenever it is convenient for the foster family and your family.
- Let us know if you are interested within 24 hours of meeting the animal; this helps us expedite the process! We will check references and set up a home visit if you are interested in moving forward.
- If you are approved to adopt through SHH, you will pay via PayPal: either pay through our website, send the money to Rachel@SecondhandHounds.org through paypal.com, or email Rachel for an invoice. You will also be emailed contract(s) to give to the foster parents upon pick up!
- You are welcome to bring your new baby home! All of our rescue dogs are used to having kennels, bedding, leash/collar, food, and toys, so please have these things ready!
