Secondhand Hounds hosts adoption events at area pet stores several times a month.

ADOPTION PROCESS:
1. Potential applicant searches adoptable animals and fills out application.
2. Foster reviews applications and schedules a “meet and greet.”
3. Volunteer contacts adopter to schedule a home visit. Adopters aren’t expected to have supplies like a crate, food, or bowls for the home visit, just make sure home and yard are safe with no hazardous materials, gaps in a fence, etc.
4. After home visit is approved, adoption coordinator requests payment and signature of adoption contract before adopter picks up new pet (fee includes the cost of the age appropriate spay/neuter surgery, microchip implant, heart worm test, rabies/distemper vaccinations, and feLeuk/FIV test – we don’t microchip cats since we require them to be indoors). *Adoption fees are non-negotiable*
